Hi Everybody!
Just thought I'd give you all a little update about the goings on in Lovers Lair.
First off, the fourth Lovers record, "I Am The West" is finished and will be released this winter. I'm still working on the artwork for it. I like this album a lot. It would be a great pleasure if you would dance to some of the songs. Some of the songs are dance-y. What do you know?
Also, it has been brought to my attention that there is a Lovers fansite up on the web at www.loverstheband.org in case you just can't get enough. There's a message board and stuff like that. It's very sweet.
I am currently writing the fifth Lovers record. It's about hope and love. It's about peace and mindfulness. It's about politics and intimacy. I sit in my little apartment and I think and I read and I write on stickies and post them all over the walls of my work-space. Since I'm not touring currently, I took a job as a Waldorf pre-school teacher. I spend my days learning from my kids. It's pretty awesome.
I just read, "A Language Older than Words" by Derrick Jensen, which I recommend. And I just saw "La Vie en Rose," a film about the life of Edith Piaf, which was heartbreaking and powerful and gorgeous and important.
That's all for now, my little deers. Thanks for checking up on me. Wonderful things to come soon. Wonderful things happening right now. High five the future!
xoxo

Some Newsies for Yousies
New Album, No Tour
Hello Friends!
The latest Lovers album, Sleep With Heat, is out now! Finally!
I've been getting lots of emails about Lovers shows. The tour listing on this website is from last year. I don't have any shows scheduled for 2007 except for one on June 8 @ Aladdin Theater in Portland, Oregon with Mirah. I need a little break to work on other projects like painting and writing.
And... my trip to Argentina and Brazil this winter was very, very amazing. We should all be living in South America. They are smarter and better there.
Next up is a small European jaunt which will lead me to England and Spain and maybe a little Portugal. Again, no Lovers shows are scheduled. If you live in Berlin and want a tiny house guest, I really want to check out that city.
Thank you thank you to everyone who has written to me lately or been otherwise supportive. I'm very sorry if I am a bad correspondent. i really appreciate all of your letters.
Love!

Homo a go go
Lovers (cubby solo probably) will be playing at the Homo a go go festival in Olympia, Washington on August 3. go to homoagogo.com for further info. i will have copies of the new Lovers album, "Sleep With Heat" for sale! if you forget your allowance, the street date for that record is october 3. instead of the usual cubby-paintings, the artwork for "Sleep With Heat" is large-format photographs i took a long time ago when i still lived in athens, and features various friends and aquaintances attempting to communicate with the hereafter or outer space or someplace.
also, I'm in the preliminary stages of planning a short fall tour schedule. I'm thinking of doing a week west coast and a week east coast or something. promoters, get in touch.
and... daniel and i made another record. it's true. it's getting mastered pretty much right now. and then it will be available sometime early next year. it is a pop album. like, there are prolly like 4 songs you could dance to on it. what? yes. funny. exciting.
other than that, life in pdx is pretty sweet. thank you as always for all the kind emails and for the letters of concern over the cancelled tour. i will see you down the road for sure.

Hey everybody,
I recently read this article in The New Yorker. I
thought it was really interesting and important
and frightening. It basically outlines the Bush
Administration's egregious assault on public
health and scientific progress (and democracy,
essentially). I urge you all to read it as well.
Thanks and love, Cubby
